Cal Breed’s enthusiasm for glass is integral to how he communicates. In 2002, his passion spurred him to open Orbix Hot Glass in Fort Payne, Alabama. The woods next to the Little River Canyon National Preserve, where his studio sits, provide endless inspiration for Breed. He experiments with and melds different glass blowing techniques to create sculptural pieces that reference natural forms and their connections to humankind. His grand encalmo vessels are a gallery favorite; giant blown vessels are hand carved on the exterior after the glass has cooled, creating incredible texture & movement.
