2025 marked a remarkable milestone – the 50th anniversary of glassblowing in Tucson, AZ. What began in 1975 with Tom Philabaum, a pioneer who introduced the art of glassblowing to the region, has grown into a thriving and diverse glass art community. Though Philabaum has since retired, his legacy continues to inspire artists across Southern Arizona.

This year also celebrated another important milestone – the 25th anniversary of the Sonoran Glass School, Arizona’s only non-profit glass art school. Together, these anniversaries honor Tucson’s enduring passion for glass and the artists who keep the flame alive.

To commemorate these achievements, Philabaum Glass Gallery presented a special exhibition highlighting the talented artists and instructors of glass, who continue to inspire and expand the possibilities of glass art.
