2025 marks a remarkable milestone – the 50th anniversary of glassblowing in Tucson, AZ. What began in 1975 with Tom Philabaum, a pioneer who introduced the art of glassblowing to the region, has grown into a thriving and diverse glass art community. Though Philabaum has since retired, his legacy continues to inspire artists across Southern Arizona.
This year also celebrates another important milestone – the 25th anniversary of the Sonoran Glass School, Arizona’s only non-profit glass art school. Together, these anniversaries honor Tucson’s enduring passion for glass and the artists who keep the flame alive.
To commemorate these achievements, Philabaum Glass Gallery is excited to present a special exhibition highlighting the talented artists and instructors of glass, who continue to inspire and expand the possibilities of glass art.
